A Message From The President – March 2022
In today’s world, it seems like we can’t ever give ourselves a break. Rising costs are affecting everyone’s pocketbooks. A new variant of Covid is starting to show it’s face. And worst of all, a major war broke out in the Ukraine. What the public may not realize is the increased Cyber threats to all US organizations as this battle escalates.
But on the bright side, this is a great time to be in the Security field. Jobs are readily available for those with experience. It is our responsibility to find ways to give opportunities for those interested in joining the Cyber Security a chance to get their foot in the door.
I want to thank Jonathan Nguyen-Duy for speaking about Cybersecurity Mesh Architecture (CSMA). We had a good number of attendees (~70) and we want to increase the number going forward. We are also working on getting more members to contribute to our presentations in hopes of promoting the networking aspect of our organization that makes it so beneficial.
Our April meeting with be focused on Cyber Insurance. All organizations need to understand the importance of this type of coverage and what to do to ensure the best rates. Also, if you don’t think this will apply to what you do, think again. Insurance companies are asking more and more questions before issuing policies and those questions are about how well your company manages Cyber Risk. Whether it be MFA, endpoint protection, monitoring or GRC, you will be asked questions from management when when you sign up for it or when renewal time comes around.
We will have a panel made up of Jeremy Wood (Autosled), David Forrestal (SecurIT360) and Michael Roman (Valent Insurance). If you haven’t registered, you can do so by clicking here. You can attend in-person or virtual. You will need to select the correct option when registering. We do ask that you show up if you register for the in-person event. We use the counts to order lunch.
We look forward to seeing everyone in April. If you have ideas for improving our membership, please let us know.
President
