A Message From The President – May 2022
It’s getting close to that time of year when kids are out for the summer, some are graduating, and parents get a brief reprieve from the day-to-day struggles of waking their kids up every morning for school. It also means it’s time to start making plans for family and/or personal vacations. Even though the cost of gasoline is increasing faster than the average number of ransomware attacks, it’s important for us all to take time off, separate from work and recharge our batteries.
I hope everyone enjoyed last month’s panel discussion on Security Operations. Our feedback from meeting participants has been very positive and I believe the content we are providing is helping to increase interest in our chapter. We are also making every effort to help different teams in Security understand why other Security teams matter to them when getting work completed.
In June, I will be presenting on best practices in the Identity world and why it is important to all areas of Information Security. Go ahead and register for the meeting here. You can attend in-person or virtual. You will need to select the correct option when registering (in-person/online). We do ask that you show up if you register for the in-person event. We use the counts to order lunch.
We are currently working with the North Alabama and Middle Tennessee chapters to have an ISSA workshop added to the National Cyber Summit taking place in Huntsville on September 21-22. The current plan is to have it take place on September 20. This workshop will focus on why ISSA matters to you. More information will follow.
I’m looking forward to seeing you all at our June meeting.
President
Willie Clemons
