A Message From The President – April 2022
It’s hard to believe how much has happened since my last message. The war in Ukraine continues to take more and more lives and does not have an end in sight anytime soon. Okta had a major breach last month that caused concerns across the globe as well as affect their stock value. Now it looks like T-Mobile is getting attention from Lapsus. Ransomware keeps getting worse every day. Aren’t you glad you chose a career in Information Security?!?
I thought last month’s discussion on cyber insurance was outstanding. It really highlighted how complex the application/renewal process has gotten and how it can mean more questions coming from your executive teams. Not only have the questions increased, but the scoring used by the insurance companies still has some maturing that needs to occur.
In May we are going to have a Security Operations panel with participation from a couple of financial institutions. We really feel the content is improving as we get more members to talk about struggles in their respective areas. So make sure to attend the meeting. If you haven’t registered, you can do so by clicking here (point to web registration). You can attend in-person or virtual. You will need to select the correct option when registering (in-person/online). We do ask that you show up if you register for the in-person event. We use the counts to order lunch.
We had plans to have a one day security event at the end of July. Unfortunately, we were unable to security a location and have decided to cancel our plans. I apologize the for the confusion. We are actively working on an event in the spring of 2023 and will ensure we have event details finalized before we announce the date.
You should have received a survey last week asking for input on how to improve our chapter and meetings. Please take time to give us some feedback. If you need to link, click here (add link to survey).
We look forward to seeing everyone in May.
President
Willie Clemons
